Life is so tough

This is my first post on this site. After reading few articles and forum replies I come to the conclusion that most of the guys here are working professionals like me. I had appeared CAT twice before once I got 97%tile (in my first attempt) and last year I had only 91 %tile. I have 4+ years of IT experience so my only target in CAT is IIM/SPJAIN. I am also thinking about GMAT but CAT is the first choice and preference. Last time when I got that poor score I thought it was only because of others (my roomies, the gal with whom I had relationship for a long time), I never blamed any one but always had that in my mind . . . . If I had given enough time if I had stopped going outside, if I had tried a little hard . . . . Things have changed. Now I am staying alone, hardly any friends in office or in my locality (most have gone abroad and few switched to other companies). There is no one to disturb me, No one to take away my time. I am in a development project where nothing is developed in last couple of months. . . . All in all I have nothing except time – which I was complaining for, few years back. But some how I am missing the fire inside to go for CAT. Maths and numbers has always enticed me throughout my life but now I don't find any interest in them. I want to be in a good b school, few years back I had the confidence that some day I would make it into a top b school but now I don’t know where to start. Why I am writing this ? – I don't know May be just to tell you guys – Never blame others if you don't make this time and if you are preparing then think like there 'll be no second chance. If you feel distracted by other external factors, if you are thinking others are wasting your time then let it be like that, it's a part of life. With all these things you have to be a successful man.

welll well wel.. therz alwyz a second tym in life.. i ve given cat 2005 n i got 71%(ile)..n i didnt give a second thot of givin cat next tym jst coz f ma poor score..thn i tuk up a job in sftwre...one dy i had a ruff dy vid ma projct managr n i tlked 2 maself that wot i wnt frm life n wot r ma priorities in lyf..thn i cum up vid da ansr n aftr analysin dat voice i came 2 da point nly cat cn fulfill ma those dreamz ...!! um stil wrkin in da sme cmpny under sme prjct mangr..bt ma attitude has changd nw so bottm line z....strt askn urslf wot u want frm life....n wot u cn do in order to fulfill dat...aftr analysin dat um sure u'l hv da sme fire dat u had..

1st time in my life.....i feel myself 2 b a litl-bit serious.... i hv a lot of work in ma proj...i usually come at my aptmnt @11pm.... hw life has bkom nd hw i thaught it wud b...a comletely busy schedule.... never felt i wud b wrking so hard... seeing dis lot of wrk ....i hv gotten frust.... even ma score in last CAT was 97%ile...i m not feeling dat i wud b able 2 upto dat in dis CAT...i feel like ..whichever coll. i will get ,i will go into dat.... i no dat i hv 2 prepare but i don no hw can i??/ plzzzzzzzzzzzz sb help me....

hi.. u hv answered few of my questions i knw that u wrk in TCS.. so am I(correct me if i am wrong) this mornin i see my pay hike and its like 2.1 % after tax deduction... man thats less than the inflation rate here !!!! So here i am no transfer to my city for 2 years no onsite ...stayin alone for 7 months(this thing is the worst evil...trust me)... peanuts when it comes to salary... my best frnd : my roomie and bro got thru to a good coll (SP that is)... and i messed up the interview big time.... woof it seems like this was a last chance ... even i dnt knw where to start....... But life is so messed up and u knw tht there is only one way to go and thats UPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP I dnt knw y... but i think u will make it..relax and try to wrk it out...wat the heck if u dnt make it to any colleges thru CAT maybe u cud be sitting in Paris Near Arc de Triumph studing in INSEAD now thats not baddddddddddd... And wid this baad english and grammer i am still aspiring 4 CAT ... :) so cheers man...

So here i am ... struggling for transfer for 2 years .. no onsite .. pathetic pay hike.... staying alone (trust me this is the worst evil !!!) my best frnd/bro/roomie got thru to SP this year where as i messed up the interview bigtime (God y didnt i wear my lucky tie ????)..... rite nw in a project wid no wrk but still cant study too much... But rite now where i stand .. theres only one way to go ... and thats up. Cmon mate u can do it .... relax ... if u dnt make it this time in CAT go for GMAT .... who knows u cud be sitting right next to the Arc De Triumph in Paris Studying in INSEAD, which is not baaaaaaaaaaaadddd.... so come on make sure u get good quality wrk rite now so that u can talk that much in the interviews... And you know why I am

And you know why I am suffering so much because I joined TC_ in the month of april if I had joined 18 days before then my salary would have been around 5.8(and now its 4.1). . . 18 days make such a difference. . . last time when this thing happened we complained a lot and was informed by our HR that everything will be taken care next year – I don’t know what he meant by next year – it might be 3650 days for him. For those who are trying to shift companies – If you are interested in TC_ then do ask some one the salary he/she gets with the amount of experience you have. . . . You can always ask the double of that. . . Example – If a guy is with TC_ from the beginning and gets X as salary after Y years then some one coming from a different company with Y years of experience can always get 2X salary Why ? Never able to understand the logic. Can some one help in understating the following equation - In 2006 – A guy with 25 months of work-ex was getting a salary of 4.3 In 2007 - A diff. guy with 38 months of work-ex got the new package and its 4.1 :-))

And you know what the other problem you might face in future. Next time when you go for an interview be ready to answer questions like this --> After 4 years you are getting a package of 4.1 ? Why so less – your must be the worst performer -->you did not you get an onsite opportunity in 4 years ?? -->My god you are in a single project for 4 years – will you able to adjust yourself in a new work environment? -->What is the secret of being so loyal to the company Etc . . . . Few months back I was in a similar situation

Too many frustrated employees are here. Guys cheer up and start focusing on CAT that should be your main AIM-BA

Let us pull each others spirits high... I kicked a job that payed me 7 for this 3.75 job away from family and i aint gonna let the turn of things hold me back. So we all are gonna post scraps on this site 3 years from now and we wont type in 4 / 4.1/ 3.75 etc etc we will type 15 / 25/ 30 ..... good life ... The branded clothes..... the villa by the lake ...... We wont need the 1 Lakh car by ratan :) A lil poem to lift ur spirits .. I think TC_ is a better

I think TC_ is a better company to work with if you join it after few years of experience. I did not post the above comment to insult or criticize, but to implore all you to try and get the best of the available option. It’s never too late but with time things would be more difficult.
